Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for the Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi is an Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became the coach for Comaneci who first came across Comaneci aged six. Comaneci participated for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships, placing 13th. In the following year, she won the title of champion. In 1972, in the communist nations' meet for junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she was awarded 3 gold and silver medals. In 1973 and '74 she was the all-around junior champ. Her debut as a senior in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. The five-time European champ winning four golds and one argent. She was the first female ever to perform a backwards double salto after dismounting from an unbalanced parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She began her career as an entertainment professional as a teenager performing as the figure skating duo of their sibling Nina Wayne for the travelling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. Her career began with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating shows.
